Hi. I’m Viv.

I’ve been teaching yoga since 2010 and it will always be my first love when it comes to fitness. However… this year I turn 47, and as I’ve gotten older, I have been drawn to develop a different kind of fitness experience.

I’ve been researching ways to balance my yoga practice with a variety of disciplines to improve my overall mental and physical wellbeing now and into the future.

IT MATTERS with Viv is my research-driven recipe for building and maintaining physical & mental health. Our week of classes will include:

  • Strength Training: to build and maintain muscle mass

  • Agility/Light Cardio: for balance, coordination, and reaction time

  • Kickboxing: for strength, cardio, stress-relief & confidence boost!

  • Yoga: for strength, flexibility, balance & mental health benefits

I have designed these classes so we feel strong and centered, powerful and calm…like we can handle whatever the day throws our way because we’re starting it off with healthy fuel for our bodies and minds.

Join me live for 30 minute classes every Monday - Thursday 6:30 - 7:00 am (CST).

After class, I will add the video to the IG grid so you can also do it whenever it fits into your day!

Move your body, fill up your heart, and be a part of our little online community to increase your strength, sanity and longevity. I promise, it does matter.

See you on the live-stream soon!

xo, Viv

Strength, Sanity & Longevity: What’s the deal?

How 30 min a day can improve your overall wellbeing:

Strength

Strength training is important for everyone - but especially for women as they age because it can help with many aspects of health, including:

  • Muscle mass: Strength training can help prevent muscle loss, also known as sarcopenia, which is a natural part of aging.

  • Bone density: Weight-bearing exercises like strength training can help prevent osteoporosis by increasing bone density.

  • Metabolism: Strength training can increase your muscle-to-fat ratio, which can boost your metabolism.

  • Pain relief: Strength training can help with back, neck, and joint pain.

  • Confidence: Strength training can boost your confidence and make you feel better about your body.

  • Stress reduction: Strength training can help reduce stress and anxiety by releasing endorphins.

  • Sleep: Strength training can improve sleep quality and help reduce insomnia.

  • Falls and injuries: Strength training can reduce the risk of falls and injuries.

  • Heart attack and stroke: Strength training can reduce the risk of heart attack or stroke.

Sanity

A 30-minute exercise session is beneficial for mental health because it triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural "feel-good" chemicals, which can significantly improve mood, reduce stress and anxiety, and alleviate symptoms of depression by promoting a positive mental state; essentially acting as a natural mood booster.

How 30 minutes of exercise improves mental health:

  • Endorphin release:

During physical activity, the brain releases endorphins, which contribute to feelings of happiness and well-being.

  • Stress reduction:

Exercise can lower cortisol levels, a stress hormone, leading to a calmer state.

  • Improved sleep:

Regular physical activity can enhance sleep quality, further promoting mental health.

  • Cognitive function boost:

Exercise can improve cognitive abilities and focus by stimulating brain cell growth.

  • Distraction from negative thoughts:

Engaging in physical activity can provide a mental distraction from worries and negative thought patterns.

  • Self-esteem enhancement:

Achieving fitness goals through exercise can boost self-confidence and self-worth.

Longivity

Exercise & Yoga can help you live longer and improve your overall health

  • Reduces mortality risk: Physical activity can reduce the risk of many major causes of death, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, and type 2 diabetes.

  • Improves cardiovascular health: Exercise sends oxygen and nutrients to your tissues, which helps your heart and lungs work more efficiently.

  • Strengthens muscles: Exercise can improve your muscle strength and endurance.

  • Improves mental health: Exercise can improve your mental health and give you confidence.

  • Can be social: Working out over zoom is a way to be a part of a community and know you’re not alone! It’s motivating and more fun to workout with others - even if it’s on video!

  • Yoga can help with longevity by reducing stress, inflammation, and anxiety, and improving balance, flexibility, and strength.
